About the Author
Donald W. Benbow is a partner of Iowa Quality Systems, and brings extensive teaching and training expertise to this collaboration. For 33 years, he taught college mathematics, statistics, engineering, and computer science courses. He has conducted lean manufacturing seminars, assisted in a Six Sigma project at John Deere Corporation, and developed software for process control applications for a subsidiary of Monsanto Corporation. Benbow is an ASQ certified CQI, CQA, CRE, and CQT.

Great reference for C.R.E. exam preparation.

This book is a fairly deep dive, but is clearly authored by one who knows his business. Its structural basis on the C.R.E. body of knowledge also raises it's stock. For those aspiring to the reliability profession, this is not only a good text, but a reference as well. Now all I need to do is grasp its message well enough to succeed at certificaton. Then it gets 5 stars.

Great overview to Reliability concepts

This book is a great overview and introduction to the field of reliability and related topics. As the name suggests the book is more like a handbook and should be used to get a fairly quick survey of the field. Every topic is pointed towards the CRE BOK and all the requirements are addressed. At some places, however, the material could go into some more details. Having said that, the book serves the purpose really well, has a very lucid language and suggests the authors know the material really deep and convey just the right message! Found some of the material on hypothesis testing, DoE, statistical inference and reliability testing to be refreshing and detailed, whereas some material like repairable systems and reliability models could be a little more detailed. Uses a lot of practical examples and comes with a CD with more practice questions. Overall a very handy reference - highly recommended.
