About the Author
Wilma Abeles Iggers, born and raised in Czechoslovakia, has taught a number of foreign languages in the United States. Her publications include a book on Karl Kraus (1967) and on Bohemian Jews (1993). She is Professor Emerita at Canisius College, Buffalo, NY.

In the biographies of these ladies, the author preserved for the reader insight into an exceptional literary environment and multilingual ethnic culture of Prague, Bohemia, Moravia.
These nurturing traditions, descimated by the ugly jack boot events of 1939, disappeared entirely with the ethnic-cleansing of the Shoah, and became eradicated with the 1945 expulsion and mass murder of the centuries-old indigenous German-speaking population.
The book presents a fine compliment to the short work by HG Adler, Die Dichtung der Prager Schule, published by the Arco Verlag (arco-verlag.com).
